London, England, United Kingdom (4E Sports) – Roger Federer booked his spot in the semifinals of the ATP World Tour Finals after cruising to a 6-4, 7-6 (5) victory over David Ferrer in their group stage match Thursday at O2 Arena.
Federer once again asserted his superiority over Ferrer, keeping his Spanish rival winless in all of their 14 matches.
Coming off a 6-3, 6-1 demolition over Janko Tipsarevic, Federer sustained his sharp form in his second group stage match as utilized a variety shots to keep Ferrer busy on the other end of the court.
With another masterful victory, the six-time ATP Tour Finals champion successfully qualified to the semifinal round notwithstanding the result of his third group stage match against Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina.
Del Potro is expected to come all out against Federer to stay alive in the season-ending tournament.
After losing to Ferrer in the opening match, Del Potro bounced back as he dispatched Tipsarevic from the tourney with a 6-0, 6-4 win.
