Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – Chris Paul recorded 18 points and 15 dimes and Jamaal Crawford scored 21 points as the Los Angeles Clippers kept the Los Angeles Lakers winless in the three games with a 105-95 victory Friday night at Staples Center.
In the much awaited battle of Los Angeles, the Clippers jumped on the opportunity and spoiled a 40-point effort from Kobe Bryant, and more importantly, cast a cloud of doubt on the Lakers’ current roster makeup.
Riding Paul’s playmaking brilliance and Crawford’s firepower off the bench, the Clippers controlled the ballgame from the get-go and answered every challenge by the Lakers.
After taking a 52-47 advantage at the break, the Clippers’ lead ballooned to 16-points in the third quarter which carried into the final period.
Bryant poured in 17 of his 40 points in the fourth quarter but his scoring spree wasn’t enough to prevent the Lakers from suffering their third straight loss.
Riddled with foul trouble, Dwight Howard finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds in 30 minutes. Lakers point guard Steve Nash sat out with a bruised left leg.
The Lakers committed 20 turnovers while their bench remained a non-factor.
