Obituary Notice: Edward D. Bloom
Edward D. Bloom, 74 of Curwensville died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at his home. He was born Oct. 1, 1938 in Curwensville, a son of the late Russel S. and Louise (Bickford) Bloom.
Mr. Bloom was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator in the strip mines for more than 30 years. He served his country as a member of the U. S. Marines.
He attended the Cherry Corner Bible Church, Grampian.
He spent much of his time enjoying the environment by appreciating the beauty of the trees and clouds or by his love for hunting and fishing.
Mr. Bloom had a particular interest in harvesting mushrooms and loved cooking and was known for his knack of grilling the perfect steak.
He is survived by his wife, Sibbie E. (Bensor) Bloom, whom he wed Jan. 29, 1959 in Curwensville; three children, Lori Parks and her husband, Greg of Lumber City; Joyce Brion and husband, Scott of Curwensville; and Michael Bloom and his wife, Monique of Turkey.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Erin Parks; Steve Blackburn and his wife, Becky; Joshua Blackburn and Janel and Lane Brion; two sisters, Phyllis Sylvis of Florida and Rhonda Beard and her husband, Rod of State College; four brothers, Dennis Bloom and his wife, Sharon of Curwensville; Howard Bloom of Lumber City; John Bloom and his wife, Debbie of Stronach; and David Bloom and his wife, Connie of Clearfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville, with Pastor George W. Solley officiating. Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Monday at the funeral home.
