Obituary Notice: Robert E. Shirey

Robert E. Shirey, 84, of Frenchville was called home to the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at his son’s residence in Frenchville.

He was born Dec. 31, 1927 in Clearfield, a son of the late Blair and Mary (Maines) Shirey.

Mr. Shirey retired as a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of the Dale United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons, William B. Shirey and his wife, Barbara of Frenchville and Dennis L. Shirey and his wife, Cathy of Clearfield; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Voss of Clearfield and Bessie Funari of Frenchville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara E. (Voss) Shirey on Jan. 18, 1992 and whom he wed Sept. 3, 1945 in Clearfield. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen L. Swanson; a grandson, Frederick Swanson; a sister, Twila English; and a brother, Richard Shirey.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield with Pastor Kathy Leigey officiating. Burial will follow in the Congress Hill Cemetery, LeContes Mills.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 12 p.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
