Brooklyn, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams will reportedly miss two days of practice after receiving an injection in his left ankle Friday.

According to head coach Avery Johnson, Williams is nursing a left ankle synovitis – an inflammation of the tissue.

Nevertheless, Williams is expected to suit up for the Nets’ season opener against the New York Knicks at the Barclays Center on October 31.

“We don’t think it’s anything serious … he’ll be out tomorrow for practice,” Johnson told ESPN.com after Friday’s practice, “but we anticipate having him back Sunday or Monday.”

Johnson added the injury has been bothering his All-Star point guard even before the start of training camp.

“Hopefully this treatment program that he’s on will help him and he’ll be ready to go in the next 24 to 48 hours,” the coach added. “It may be something that we have to manage, but we’ll see what happens after the next couple of days”
