CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Middle School has been evacuated because of a gas leak that occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m., according to Superintendent Dr. Thomas B. Otto.
“We suspected a gas leak. We weren’t sure how small or how large and the safest thing to do is to evacuate the school,” Otto said.
He said all students are safe and accounted for and being housed at the Clearfield Expo Building with teachers and staff. Buses will be dispatched there and the students will be dismissed at 12 p.m.
He said other arrangements can be made through parental contact. Students are permitted to use their cellular phones. Walkers are permitted to leave early so long as they can make parental contact.
Parents may pick up their students by the grandstand at the Clearfield Driving Park, Otto said.
