Ohio State football to face Oregon in 2020-21 series
Columbus, OH, United States (4E Sports) – The Ohio State Buckeyes have added a home-and-home series against the Oregon Ducks to their schedule in 2020 and 2021.
According to the Buckeyes, the first game will be played at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon on Sept. 12, 2020 while the Ducks will return the favor by coming to Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 11, 2021.
“Oregon has developed into one of the premier football programs in the FBS,” said Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith. “We are excited to add them to our future slate of games.”
“We are excited to add a home and home series with Ohio State as it provides another major conference opponent to our future schedule,” said Ducks athletic director Rob Mullens. “The Pac-12 and Big Ten have enjoyed a long-standing relation-ship, so the opportunity to add another Big Ten opponent was attractive.”
Mullens added that attracting top teams like Ohio State to Autzen Stadium remains the school’s top goal as “this is the type of matchup our loyal fans love”.
Oregon and Ohio State have met eight times, the last time in the 2010 Rose Bowl. The Buckeyes won that game 26-17 and also beat the Ducks 10-7 in the 1958 Rose Bowl.
All but three of the eight contests have been played at Ohio Stadium, with two of them occurring in the postseason (1957 and 2010 Rose Bowls).
Ohio State’s 2016 non-conference schedule has now been finalized with the addition of two more games. Ohio State will host the University of Tulsa Sept. 10 and Central Michigan Sept. 24. This will be Ohio State’s first meeting on the gridiron with each team.
The home-and-home series with Ohio was one of three additions to Oregon’s future football schedules. The Ducks are scheduled to host Georgia State in 2015 and Bowling Green in Eugene to open the 2018 season.
