According to officials, the missing child, Saanvi Venna, was allegedly taken between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m from the Marquis Apartment complex in West Dekalb Pike on Monday. The child’s dead grandmother has been identified as 61-year-old Satyavathi Venna, who was visiting her son and his family from India.
Investigators declared an Amber Alert before 5 p.m. after the baby’s father and the murder victim’s son, Venkata Konda Siva Venna, discovered his mother’s body and realized that his daughter has vanished.
Venna left work Monday afternoon to check on the pair after a relative informed him that they could not be reached.
The little girl is an Asian-Indian female, around 2’6″ tall, weighing 21 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white dress with pink flowers and some jewelry.
Investigators combed the apartment complex and drained the swimming pool for clues last Tuesday.
During a press conference Monday night, the infant’s father begged “if someone finds my baby could you please bring my baby back? Don’t do any harm to my baby.”
Police said that the grandmother arrived in the United States from India in July 2012 and was scheduled to go back home in January 2013.
Chenchu Latha Punuru, the child’s mother, was reportedly at work when the murder and abduction occurred.
