Louisiana mom killed her two children who were found in bathtub

New Orleans, LA, United States (4E) – A 23-year-old mother from New Orleans, Louisiana was arrested after shooting her 3-year-old son and drowning her 4-year-old daughter Wednesday, the children’s bodies were discovered in the bathtub of their home.

Police identified the mother as Chelsea Thornton, who confessed to investigators that she killed the young children then took a bus to a nearby hospital because she was experiencing stomach pains and a headache.

Some time during the day, the woman called the children’s father, who does not live with her, and requested a meeting at a hospital because of her illness.

Upon his arrival, the 29-year-old father asked about the children and was told they were at day care. He sent his mother with a key to the apartment to check on them.

When the children’s grandmother showed up around 5:39 p.m., she found Chelsea Adams and Kendall Adams in the bathtub and informed the police.

Thornton was booked late Wednesday with two counts of first-degree murder.

Nicole Hammons, a cousin of the children’s father, who expressed concern about the mother and her relationship to her kids, said that Thornton could have opened up more, because “as family members, we could have pushed harder.”

She added that “we obviously didn’t know this would happen.”
