Bossier City, LA, United States (4E) – A 21-year-old Louisiana woman died of her injuries Wednesday after her vehicle fell off the upper level of a Bossier City casino parking garage, crashing about 60 feet below and pinning her.
Authorities identified the fatality as Robin Alexander Lyons from Shreveport, who apparently drove her Chevy Caprice through a barrier of steel cables along the edge of the third level parking area of the Boomtown Casino before landing on its roof.
Lyons was struck inside her car for around 20 minutes, before rescuers, using the Jaws of Life and other extrication equipment, was able to pull her out.
Mark Natale, Bossier City Police Public Information Officer, said that Lyons was brought to the Louisiana State University Hospital with life threatening injuries, where she died a few hours later.
Natale added that two other individuals, who could be hotel guests, reported just hearing the crash.
No eyewitnesses have come forward with a statement to police.
Police said Lyons was wearing a seat belt and believe alcohol may have influenced the accident. A toxicology test is being done and the crash remains under investigation.
