London, England, United Kingdom (4E Sports) – After a two-month absence, batsman Kevin Pietersen has been added to the English team that will see action in India in November and December.

Pietersen was banished from England’s third Test against South Africa in August amid allegations that he sent text messages to opposing players criticizing his then captain Andrew Strauss.

Pietersen later apologized for sending the text messages before signing a new contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Hugh Morris, managing director of England cricket, confirmed Thursday that Pietersen’s “process of reintegration” to the team was successful, paving the way for his return for the four-Test tour of India.

“We were keen that Kevin should hold a series of face-to-face meetings with team management and senior players before the Test squad departs for the UAE and India next week,” Morris said.

“The meetings were constructive and cordial and all outstanding issues have been resolved,” he added. “All the England players and management are now keen to draw a line under this matter and fully focus on the cricketing challenge that lies ahead in India.”

Pietersen will be added to a 16-man squad which includes uncapped batsmen Joe Root and Nick Compton.

“We are pleased to welcome a player of Kevin’s proven international caliber back into the Test squad for such an important Test series,” ECB national selector Geoff Miller said.

Miller said Kevin will hook up with the squad as soon as his Champions League commitments are complete. Pietersen has returned to South Africa to resume his Champions League duties with Delhi Daredevils.

England begins their four-Test winter tour of India November 15 in Ahmedabad, before traveling to Mumbai, Kolkata and Nagpur.
