Chicago, IL, United States (4E Sports) – Michael Jordan once again proved his marketing prowess hasn’t lost its luster after a Chicago man shelled out roughly $10,000 on eBay to acquire a gallon of barbecue sauce intended for use of famous McDonald’s McJordan’s sandwich in 1992.
Mort Bank, a former McDonald’s owner-operator in North Dakota, turned a rare barbecue sauce stocked for ages on his shelf to cash worth $9,995.00.
“I’ve got quite a bit of McDonald’s memorabilia,” Bank told ESPN. “This was on my shelf, and my daughter who helps me with eBay said, ‘I wonder what something like this would be worth?’
Bank said the buyer wanted to stay anonymous, although he’s certain he’s a die-hard Chicago Bulls fan.
The former McDonald operator said he had no idea the sale of barbecue sauce for the rare McJordan sandwich would go viral.
“If I had known it was going to be red hot on the Internet, I might have done it differently, but $10,000 for barbecue sauce is pretty good,” Bank told ESPN.
