California woman mistaken for intruder shot to death by boyfriend

Sacramento, CA, United States (4E) – A 34-year-old California woman was shot and killed by her boyfriend Monday after being mistaken for an intruder.

Sacramento police said they immediately responded after the man called authorities to report that he accidentally shot his girlfriend using a handgun after hearing a scream and being confronted by a silhouette.

The woman, who was shot below her armpit on her side and unresponsive, was revived by the paramedics who arrived on the scene at Battlecreek Circle in Natomas, but she later died due to severe injuries at the hospital.

Homicide detectives are now investigating the case.
