California man on life support after accidental shooting by brother

Elk Grove, CA, United States (4E) – A 28-year-old California man who was accidentally shot in the face Saturday by his brother while slaughtering a pig for a family festivity is now on life support.
According to authorities, Koua Vang, of Elk Grove, was brought to the Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento hospital with life-threatening injuries and was declared in critical condition.
The incident occurred at Vang’s home where his 31-year-old brother was attempting to shoot two strapped pigs while surrounded by family members.
Police said that one pig was already butchered but when the unidentified brother tried to aim on the next pig, the animal heaved and collided with the .22-caliber rifle, discharging the weapon a second time and hitting Vang’s face at close range.
