State Police: Missing Port Matilda Woman Found Dead

RUSH TOWNSHIP – The Philipsburg-based state police have initiated an investigation into the death of a 65-year-old Port Matilda woman who was previously reported as missing.

State police identified the woman as Mary Ellen Houck, 65, of Port Matilda. She was reported missing yesterday by her family. She was found dead today at 11:20 a.m. in her car north of U.S. Route 322 along Hanna Furnace Road in Rush Township.

The cause of death remains unknown and is still under investigation, state police said. However, there aren’t any suspicious circumstances surrounding their investigation.

Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers pronounced Houck dead at 11:50 a.m. today.
