Shortfuse Gasfield Trucking Named one of the Best Places to Work in PA
BIGLER – Shortfuse Gasfield Trucking, headquartered in Bigler, has been named one of the Best Places to Work in PA for 2012. The awards program, created in 2000, is one of the first statewide programs of its kind in the country. The program is administered by the Team Pennsylvania Foundation and the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal, which conducts the survey on an annual basis.
This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Pennsylvania, which are benefiting to the state’s economy and its workforce. Employers are categorized based upon the total number of employees they have in the U.S., 25 to 249 employees and 250 or more employees.
Shortfuse Gasfield Trucking was founded in 2010 and has grown to a fleet of 25 water trucks with 38 employees. While it primarily serves the gas industry, it does occasionally service other industries that require transportation of liquids.
“Our family has been in business for more than 100 years in this region, and the philosophy that has been passed down through the generations is that success is meant to be shared. We have a great team at Shortfuse, and I’m pleased they consider us one of the best places to work,” said co-owner, Derek A. Walker of Bigler.
“We operate in a very demanding industry, and the people at Shortfuse have given us a competitive edge. This award is a tribute to them,” said Andy Spencer, also a co-owner.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in PA.
The first part of this process was evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation.
The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation.
The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process.
Shortfuse Gasfield Trucking will be recognized at the Best Places to Work in PA awards banquet Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Lancaster County Convention Center in Lancaster. Rankings will be revealed at the ceremony.
