Memphis, TN, United States (4E Sports) – Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is reportedly part of the proposed ownership group that made a pact with business mogul Michael Heisley to purchase the Memphis Grizzlies for around $350 million this summer, a reliable source disclosed Thursday.
Manning, who recently signed a five-year, $96 million deal with the Broncos, has started to invest his millions of dollars earned throughout his illustrious football career (on the field and endorsementS) and he did it by owning a piece of another team in another sports league.
According to ESPN Radio Memphis, Manning named the ownership stake in behalf of his wife Ashley Manning, thought reports pointed out the Broncos quarterback is involved in his financial capacity.
“While my focus is on playing quarterback for the Denver Broncos, I look forward to watching her become involved with her hometown team,” Peyton Manning told ESPN Thursday.
Manning, who played his college football career at the University of Tennessee, joined the likes of Justin Timberlake, Penny Hardaway, AutoZone founder J.R. “Pitt” Hyde, and financier Staley Cates to back up Robert Pera in his attempt to buy the Grizzlies from Heisley.
The sale is still subject for approval by the NBA Board of Governors when they meet before the start of the season on October 24-25 in New York.
