Ex-Marine from Virginia killed wife’s secret lover
Buffalo, NY, United States (4E) – A 42-year-old ex-Marine, who drove seven hours from Virginia to New York to murder his wife’s secret lover, was captured last Friday after hiding for nearly a week in a national park.
According to U.S. Marshals, Anthony Robert Taglianetti II was arrested near Shenandoah National Park where he retreated after killing Keith Reed Jr., the man he suspected of having an affair with his wife, Mary Jenks Taglianetti.
Reed, Clymer, New York’s schools superintendent, was found dead near his home last September 24 and officials presumed that he has been dead since Friday, September 21.
Police discovered a handgun and several email correspondences between his wife and Reed Jr. in Taglianetti’s car.
Taglianetti was charged with second-degree murder and was expected to appear in court on Monday on extradition issues.
The husband allegedly got angry after finding several suggestive texts sent from Reed to his wife.
It was reported that two days after a K9 unit found Reid’s body, Jenks Taglianetti, who is under police protection, called the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office and said, “I think my husband did it.”
Reed, a retired FBI agent, and Jenks Taglianetti met through Match.com, where she presented herself as divorced.
Taglianetti, who served in the Marines from 1990 to 1994, just resigned as a historian for the Corps in Quantico.
