Dover, DE, United States (4E Sports) – Joey Logano dominated the One Main Financial 200, leading an astonishing 184 of 200 laps en route to his seventh Nationwide Series victory Saturday at Dover International Speedway.
Logano beat runner-up Paul Menard of Menards/Rheem Chevrolet to the finish line by just 0.876 seconds while Michael Annett of Richard Petty Motorsports Ford ran third.
With the victory, Logano swept two races at Dover this year, becoming the sixth driver to do so. He also gave Joe Gibbs Racing its 75th Nationwide win and its seventh win at Dover, most of all teams.
Logano opened a lead of roughly three seconds before Kasey Kahne took over the top spot with a two-tire call under yellow. Logano, however, regained the lead moments after a restart on Lap 51.
The race was briefly interrupted due to oil on the track from Jeremy Clements’ car but it did not slow Logano, who took off again from a restart on Lap 124 and built a lead of 1.5 seconds over Justin Allgaier.
Points leader Elliott Sadler finished fourth to extend his lead over Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to nine points and 26 points over teammate Austin Dillon, who finished 10th.
Rounding out the top 10 were Kyle Busch (5th), Cole Whitt (6th), Brian Scott (7th) and Kasey Kahne (8th).
Stenhouse, who finished ninth after battling an ill-handling car throughout the day, expressed disappointment over his effort at Dover.
“It’s a finish. We’ll go onto Charlotte,” Stenhouse said.
Pole sitter, Darrell Wallace Jr. finished 12th for his first finish outside of the top ten in four career starts. “I’m not saying we’re a winning car, but we were definitely a top ten car,” said Wallace who failed to lead a single lap after starting out front.
JR Motorsports had a decent day at the track, with Cole Whitt driving his No. 88 car to a sixth place finish and teammate Danica Patrick finishing in 16th spot.
NASCAR’s number two series returns in two weeks at Charlotte.
