San Antonio, TX, United States (4E Sports) – Candace Parker chalked up 32 points, 9 rebounds and six dimes while Kristi Toliver added 23 points as the Los Angeles Sparks finished off the San Antonio Silver Stars, 101-94, in Game 2 of their WNBA first-round series Saturday at AT&T Center.
The Sparks advanced to the Western Conference finals as they once again leaned on the dynamic tandem of Parker and Toliver.
Unlike in their previous encounter where they took the game on strength of explosive fourth quarter run, the Sparks came out firing at all cylinders as they outscored the home team 25-16 in the first period.
The Sparks controlled the flow through the first three quarter before fending off a huge and last rally from the Stars in the final period.
Sophia Young finished with 28 points and 6 rebounds while Becky Hammon added 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting. Jia Jenkins contributed 16 points off the bench for the Stars, who saw their season end.
The Sparks will face the winner of the other Western Conference semis series between the Minnesota Lynx and the Seattle Storm. The Lynx leads the series 1-0.
