Houston, TX, United States (4E Sports) – Reliant Stadium is working on an annual Labor Day event, joining Arlington’s Cowboys Stadium and Atlanta’s Georgia Dome in staging big college football season opener.

Reliant Stadium, the home of the Houston Texans, is reportedly trying to hammer a deal that will pit the Mississippi State Bulldogs against the Oklahoma State Cowboys to kick off the 2013 college football season on August 31.

According to a source, ESPN reported that Reliant will host an annual event that showcases the best football teams in the country in the opener.

The Georgia Dome has been hosting the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game since 2008. This year’s games featured two highly-contested matches with Tennessee blasting NC State 35-21 while Clemson toppling Auburn 26-19.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys Stadium has been staging the Cowboys Classic since 2009 with Alabama pummeling Michigan 41-14 serving as this year’s opener.
