Notre Dame lands standout point guard Demetrius Jackson

South Bend, IN, United States (4E Sports) – Notre Dame picked up a huge recruiting win Thursday when it got a commitment from point guard Demetrius Jackson.
One of the top players in the Class of 2013, the Marian Catholic (Mishawaka, Ind.) standout chose Notre Dame over Illinois.
“I believe that I’m going to bring them another point guard that will work his butt off to do whatever it takes to make the team better and win,” Jackson said. “I’ll bring some liveliness to the program.”
Notre Dame and Illinois both went after Jackson hard. On Tuesday they both sent three coaches to watch Jackson work out.
“With the last two schools, it was hard to see myself not playing there,” Jackson said. “It was very difficult because the built-in relationships and the opportunity that Illinois had to offer.”
Jackson joins two other top recruits to give Notre Dame one of the best classes for 2013. also headed to South Bend are guard Steve Vasturia (Medford, N.J./St. Joe’s Prep) and swingman V.J. Beachem (New Haven, Ind./New Haven).
