Bothell, WA, United States (4E) – A 28-year-old Washington state woman was arrested after police, on a routine traffic check, discovered three children and a dog inside her car trunk last Sunday.

Washington State Patrol reported that a trooper stopped the car because of speeding as the driver, Anna Boyle, was going 77 mph in the 60 mph zone on I-405 in Canyon Park.

According to the authorities, when the trooper signaled with his lights, the car continued driving for half a mile before it stopped.

Upon approaching the vehicle, investigators smelled marijuana and saw various drug paraphernalia inside the car before they heard thumping in the trunk.

The three kids, an 8-year-old girl and a pair of boys, 7 and 5 were in the trunk with the family`s Chihuahua.

Police reported that Boyle and her fiance, Aaron Johnson, did not mention having the kids in the trunk. Both insisted that the children, who mentioned that they have not eaten since the night before, climbed in voluntarily.

The troopers, who noticed no car seats and no room for the children in the car, turned over the children to the child protective services after buying them lunch.

Boyle has been indicted for drug charges and may face child endangerment charges as well.
