Raleigh, NC, United States (4E Sports) – North Carolina State head coach Mark Gottfried has been given a new deal, which will pay him $1.95 million annually over six years. The school announced Friday.

Gottfried, who guided the Wolfpack to 24 wins and an NCAA tournament appearance last season, will pocket the same annual base salary of $750,000 but his supplemental was upped from $450,000 to $1.2 million.

The salary hikes catapulted the Wolfpack coach from ninth to third highest-paid coach in the ACC, which also features North Carolina coach Roy Williams and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski.

Many basketball followers tapped North Carolina State as one of the teams to watch this season after retaining its core and recruiting North Carolina Mr. Basketball Rodney Purvis.
