RIDGWAY – A 23-year-old Ridgway man, Jeffrey A. Steudler, sustained moderate injuries after a motorcycle accident that occurred at 4:10 p.m. Friday on the Ridgway – St. Marys Road in Ridgway Township, according to the Ridgway-based state police.
Steudler entered the roadway from a parking lot and accelerated to approximately 60 miles per hour. He was following another motorcycle when its operator applied his brakes.
At that point, Steudler applied his rear brakes too hard. He lost control of his motorcycle, which then fell onto its side. Steudler became separated from the motorcycle, while it was sliding down the roadway for a short distance. The motorcycle continued unoccupied for approximately 588 feet before coming to a rest on its left side along the north berm.
Steudler was transported to the Elk Regional Health Center with moderate injuries. He was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the accident. He was cited for following too closely.
