East Lansing, MI, United States (4E Sports) – Everett Golson covered for 178 yards with one TD pass and also rushed for a touchdown, sparking the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a 20-3 win over No.10 Michigan State Spartans Saturday at Spartan Stadium.

Notre Dame’s scintillating start continued Saturday as the Fighting Irish overpowered the previously dominant Spartans on their opponent’s home turf.

Golson hooked up with John Goodman for a 36-yard TD pass and rushed for a 6-yard TD to ignite the Irish to a 14-0 start. The Spartans got on the scoreboard when Dan Coroy converted a 50-yard field goal conversion.

Irish kicker Kyle Brindza made two more field goals to put the Spartans away.

Golson completed 14-of-32 passes for 178 yards while Spartans quarterback Andrew Maxwell covered 187 yards on 23-of-45 passing.

Notre Dame improved its season slate to 3-0 and will next take on rival Michigan Wolverines on Sept. 22.

Michigan State will try to bounce back from their first loss against unheralded Eastern Michigan also on Saturday.
