Chapel Hill, NC, United States (4E Sports) – Tami Hansbrough, the mother of former North Carolina basketball star Tyler Hansbrough, resigned her position as a school fundraiser on Wednesday.
The resignation comes as school is looking into trips she took with a university vice chancellor.
Hansbrough had been placed on administrative leave earlier in the week after Chancellor Holden Thorp told The (Raleigh) News & Observer that vice chancellor Matt Kupec and Hansbrough appeared to have taken trips to places where Hansbrough’s son, Ben, was playing basketball for Notre Dame.
According to Thorp those trips would constitute non-university-related travel.
Hansbrough was hired as an associate director of development serving as a serve as a fundraiser specializing in major gifts at the UNC School of Dentistry in December 2008. Her son Tyler Hansbrough was a senior that year and helped the Tar Heels win a national championship later that season.
Kupec, a former Tar Heels quarterback, resigned Sunday night after an internal review indicated he had charged expenses for personal trips with Hansbrough to the university.
