Obituary Notice: Robert L. Mitchell

Robert L. Mitchell, 84, of Clearfield died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at the Clearfield Hospital. He was the husband of Marilyn M. (Miller) Mitchell of Clearfield for 61 years.
Born May 12, 1928 in Clearfield, he was the son of the late John and Genevieve A. (Fargo) Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was a member of West Side United Methodist Church. He was employed as a certified public accountant and a partner at Walter Hopkins Co. for more than 42 years.
Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II and the Berlin crisis.
He was a member of the Clearfield Rotary Club and served as its president during 1971-1972. He was also a member of the Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.
Mr. Mitchell served as president for the former United Fund, Clearfield, the Central Chapter P.I.C. in 1970 – 1971, Golden Bison Association for seven years and the Clearfield – Curwensville Country Club. He served as chairman of the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce and as chairman of the board of the Clearfield Foundation.
Mr. Mitchell was also a member of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #540, The Innes Clan Society and the PA Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter and two sons, Deborah L. Houser and her husband, Don of Cedro Woolley, WA; Scott L. Mitchell and his wife, Donna of Kissimmee, FL; and Gary R. and his wife, Kim of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Jennifer Houser Robbins, Michael R. Houser, Corey A. Mitchell, Jonathan R. Mitchell, Nicole Haidermota and Angela O. Miller; six great-grandchildren, Conner Robbins, Alexis Houser, David Michael Houser, Clayton Scott Mitchell, Kaelen Burdsall and Caleb Burdsall; and one brother and one sister, Richard D. Mitchell of New Mechanicsburg and Wilma J. Dale, Johnstown.
There will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service, which will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pine Grove Bethel Cemetery, Clearfield, with the Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating.
Graveside military honors will be provided by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
