Two Injured in Taylor Township Mishap

TAYLOR TOWNSHIP – Two people sustained minor injuries after a single-vehicle accident at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday on South Eagle Valley Road in Taylor Township, the Philipsburg-based state police reported.

Brian P. Rhodes, 22, of Tyrone was traveling northbound on a wet roadway when a deer entered his lane. He slammed on his brakes and swerved to avoid striking the deer.

Rhodes subsequently lost control of his vehicle, spinning off the left-hand side of the roadway. There, his vehicle struck an embankment and entered a ditch.

Rhodes and his passenger, Anthony D. Wiser, 20, of Tyrone sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Altoona Hospital. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the mishap.
