Moore’s hustles key Lynx to rout over Sparks

Minneapolis, MN, United States (4E Sports) – Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus scored 23 points each as the Minnesota Lynx upended the Los Angeles Sparks, 88-77, in their Western Conference showdown Tuesday at Target Center.

Led by Moore’s hustle, the Lynx smothered the Sparks throughout the game and converted 20 Sparks turnovers into 29 points.

Moore shot 9-for-18 from the field, grabbed nine rebounds, and recorded seven steals in a strong all-around performance.

After leading by just four points (41-37) at halftime, the Lynx pushed their advantage to double digit with an 11-4 run in the first four minutes of the third quarter. Minnesota went on to outscore the Los Angeles, 25-18, in the period , giving them enough lead to hold on going into the final quarter.

Alana Beard scored 17 points and Jenna O’Head added 15 points for Los Angeles, who shot 48.4 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from the free-throw line. Sparks star Candace Parker finished with 6 points on 3-for-8 shooting.

Jantel Lavender racked up six points and eight dimes but was not enough to prevent the Sparks from absorbing their third straight loss.

The Lynx improved to 22-4 this season, further solidifying their grip on the top spot of the Western Conference standings.
