Clearfield Commissioners Announce Dental Discount Card Program
CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners announced the county’s participation in a dental discount card program that is now available to all Clearfield County residents at Tuesday’s workshop meeting.
As a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo), Clearfield County is able to offer the NACo Dental Discount Card Program. The program helps families save money on routine dentist office visits, orthodontic treatment and other dental care services through a network of participating private practice dentists.
The program, administered by Careington International Corp. and NACo, offers individuals and families more affordable monthly and annual options to take advantage of the discounts throughout the year. The annual enrollment fee for the discount program is $59 for an individual and $69 for family, Commissioner Mark B. McCracken said.
“The dental discount program will offer Clearfield County families an affordable option that will provide significant savings for our citizens” he said. McCracken worked directly with Lauren Kelly of Careington to implement the program in Clearfield County.
“We know that good dental health and maintenance plays an important part in staying healthy. In these tough economic times, many cannot afford to visit the dentist for check-ups and routine services. But through this program, residents can get some welcome relief paying for those important health services.”
Commissioner Joan Robinson-McMillen said the commissioners are pleased to offer this program to citizens. For her, it’s important to make dental care and checkups more affordable for families so that local children have access to good oral healthcare.
“Regular dental checkups can also help with early detection of diabetes and cancer, and sometimes long before a patient knows anything is wrong. We hope that the citizens of Clearfield County will find this program valuable and will reduce their costs for dental services,” said Commissioner Chairman John A. Sobel.
McCracken said there are currently four general dentists and one oral surgeon who are practicing in Clearfield County that are a part of the Careington network along with many other specialists in nearby counties. However, he said residents can submit a recommendation for Careington to contact other local providers about becoming part of the program.
