Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Spanish filmmaker David Victori has won the grand prize in the first Your Film festival sponsored by YouTube, Scott Free Productions and Emirates airlines.
Victori’s winning film, “The Guilt,” is about a man who is eager to avenge his wife’s murder. The announcement was made Sunday at the Venice Film Festival.
The film emerged the best of about 15,000 entries from around the globe, from which only 50 semifinalists were chosen, part by votes obtained from YouTube viewers, and part selected by the group of lawyers.
Victori, in a video showcasing all the shortlisted ones, said of his being a finalist, “It’s almost like a dream.” Now, being the winner, he will receive $500,000 for his next YouTube project, with Mr. Scott and Mr. Fassbender as producers.
Michael Fassbender, member of the jury, said, “Choosing a Your Film Festival winner from the ten finalists was a tough decision. They all showed such creativity and a strong understanding of the filmmaking process. David is clearly a talented director and I can’t wait to work with him and Ridley on his new YouTube project.”
