Saskatchewan, Canada (4E Sports) – Starting quarterback Darian Durant completed 13 of 19 passes for 168 yards with two touchdowns before suffering an upper body injury and the Saskatchewan Roughriders cruised to a 52-0 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Sunday night at Mosaic Stadium.
The Roughriders continued their Labor Day classic dominance over the Bombers as they extended their winning streak to eight games behind a stellar performance from Durant and their defensive unit.
Durant’s 10-play, 92-yard run drive proved to be the key moment of the game, capping it with a 25-yard TD pass to Weston Dressler in the first quarter.
Durant left the game in the third quarter after absorbing a hard hit from a Winnipeg defender. He received a standing ovation from the home crowd on his way to the locker room.
Back-up quarterback Drew Willy followed up by completing 8 of 10 passes for 98 yards and one touchdown. Roughriders linebacker Tyron Brackenridge also had a stellar game, recording three tackles and one interception. He also had a punt block that he returned for a TD in the second quarter.
Saskatchewan improved its season slate to 4-5 while Winnipeg remains in the cellar of the East Division with a 2-7 record.
