Chicago, IL, United States (4E Sports) – Patrick Nyarko struck early in the first half while Daniel Paladini and Alex chipped in with a goal each in the second as the Chicago Fire moved up to third in the Eastern Conference standings with a 3-1 victory over the Houston Dynamo Sunday at Toyota Park.
The Fire improved their regular-season slate to 13-8-5 (44 pts) after capitalizing on the tired legs of Dynamo players, who played their second game in three days.
Houston, coming off a 1-1 draw with Honduran club Olimpia in CONCACAF Champions League Thursday, kept things close with a header by Brian Ching in the second half but fatigue proved to be the determining factor in the match.
Coming off a 10-day break, the Fire pounced one every error committed by the obviously weary Dynamo in the second half.
With the loss, the Dynamo dropped behind the Fire in the Eastern Conference ladder with a 11-7-9 (42 pts) record.
