Columbus, OH, United States (NewsBahn) – Ohio State shrugged off a slow start to forge a 21-3 halftime lead over Miami (OH.) in both teams’ college football opener Saturday.

Braxton Miller passed for 187 yards and two scores, while Carlos Hyde tacked on a four-yard scoring romp for the Buckeyes.

One of Miller’s scoring strikes was capped by a phenomenal one-handed grab by Devin Smith.

Kaleb Patterson booted a 22-yard field goal in the opening quarter for Miami University’s lone score off a 6-play, 64-yard drive.

The Redhawks collected 210 yards of offense with six first downs, but had just 10 yards on the ground.

Miami did stuff Hyde on a rushing attempt for a touchdown as the clock ran out to end the half.
