Ellen DeGeneres, Backstreet Boys, Helen Mirren to join 2013 Hollywood Walk of Fame

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Ellen DeGeneres, Backstreet Boys and Helen Mirren are among the new inductees for the 2013 Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The announcement was made via a live press conference, for the first time in history, was held by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel’s Oscar Room at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard last Friday, June 22, hosted by Leron Gubler, President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
The inductees, who were chosen among many nominations by the Hollywood Chamber’s Board of Directors during a meeting on June 15, were announced by actress and recent recipient of the honor Marg Helgenberger. According to a press release, the inductees’ were chosen for their skills in the following categories: Motion Pictures, Television, Radio, Recording and Live Theatre/Live Performance.
David Green, Chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, stated “The Walk of Fame committee is proud to announce next year’s honorees whose additions to the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame will bring everlasting memories of their star power, talent, and popularity to the millions who visit Hollywood each year and which will shine even more light on the entertainment capital of the world.”

As stated in their official website, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is “an internationally-recognized Hollywood icon” and serves as “a tribute to all of those who worked diligently to develop the concept and to maintain this world-class tourist attraction. The Walk of Fame is open to the public.”
