‘Once’ wins more than once at Tony awards

New York, N.Y., United States (4E) – “Once” was the big winner at the 66th annual Tony Awards Sunday night, winning more than once. In fact, “Once” left with seven awards.
“Once” won for best performance by an actor in a leading role, scenic design, lighting design, sound design, direction, orchestration and book of a musical.
Based on the 2006 film of the same name, the scene is Dublin, Ireland, and the story revolves around a street guitar player who attracts a young Czech immigrant who is also a musician. The two team up and fall in love, despite many setbacks and obstacles along the way.
Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, the awards show was broadcast from New York’s Beacon Theater.

- Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play: Christian Borle, “Peter and the Starcatcher.”
- Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play: Judith Light, “Other Desert Cities.”
