Last year, as part of her senior project for Harmony Area High School, Brianna Beck, a nine year member of the Harmony 4-H Club, offered the first ever 4-H & FFA Royalty Contest during the 151st Annual Clearfield County Fair.  For 2012, the Clearfield County 4-H Teen Council would like to uphold Brianna’s project and offer the contest again.  The contest will be open to current 4-H & FFA members, as well as 4-H and FFA alumni.   Nominations are currently being accepted for the following age divisions (all ages will be based on your age as of Jan. 1 of the current year):

  • Ages 8-14 (4-H Members)
  • Ages 15-21 (4-H & FFA Members)
  • Ages 22-35 (4-H & FFA Alumni)
  • Ages 36 & older (4-H & FFA Alumni)

You can nominate someone or nominate yourself. There is a small $2.00 fee per each nomination.  The final day to make a nomination will be July 13, 2012.  After all nominations are received, we will collect a brief write-up and photo of each nominee.  The photos and bio’s will be displayed for the public at a selected location at the Clearfield County Fair starting July 29 through noon on Aug. 2.  A can will be provided for each nominee and the person in each age division collecting the most donations will be recognized as 4-H royalty at the 4-H and FFA Awards Ceremony & Hoe Down on the evening of August 2.

This contest should be a fun endeavor and a new opportunity for 4-H and will serve three primary objectives:

  1. Increase awareness of the 4-H & FFA programs
  2. Recognize our current & past 4-H & FFA members for their involvement & dedication to the programs.
  3. Raise money for the 4-H & FFA programs and be able to provide scholarships to youth in need.

4-H is a non-formal youth development educational program of Penn State Cooperative Extension for all youth between the ages of 8 and 19, regardless of age, ancestry, color, disability or handicap, national origin, race, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identification, or veteran status.  To obtain a nomination form or for additional information on the 4-H program, contact Jana Lynne Davidson at Penn State Extension in Clearfield County at (814) 765-7878 Ext. 3.  Registration forms are also available on the Clearfield County Fair Web site.
