Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Sports) – Four people were arrested following a fight that stemmed from a minor traffic accident after the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday.
The Los Angeles Police said a man was beaten during the scuffle but suffered only minor injuries and was later released from the hospital.
The victim’s passenger, a pregnant woman, was also taken to the hospital as precautionary measure. She was later released after a thorough observation.
Four occupants of the other vehicle were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and were required to post a $30,000 bail for their freedom.
Los Angeles police officer Bruce Borihanh said the four suspects are in their 20s. They were detained by an off-duty LAPD officer who was working in uniform for the Dodgers.
“There is a lot of security at Dodger Stadium, and they were able to respond pretty quickly,” he said.
At last year’s opening day. San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow suffered major brain damage after he was beaten by alleged Dodgers fans.
Police arrested two men who have been charged in the attack and are awaiting trial while Stow, 43, has undergone surgeries and intensive rehabilitation but continues to struggle with simple tasks.
Stow’s family has filed a $50 million lawsuit against the team and then owner Frank McCourt for cutting costs on security in and around the stadium.
The Dodgers were sold earlier this year to an ownership group that includes NBA legend Earvin ”Magic” Johnson.
