Reese Witherspoon’s dad faces lawsuit filed by mom

Nashville, TN, United States (4E) – Reese Witherspoon’s mom, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Witherspoon, filed a lawsuit Tuesday against her husband, John Witherspoon, accusing him of bigamy and asking for his new marriage to be annulled.

The award-winning actress’ mom said that John’s marriage to Tricianne Taylor, 60, last January 14 is not valid because they are still legally married.

After over 20 years of separation, Betty Witherspoon said she still loves her husband John, the reason why she did not agree to a divorce.

John, 70, who is said to have had alcohol and spending problems, is feared to be suffering from dementia. According to the Tennesean, Betty said in an affidavit that, “When I confronted my husband, he said he didn’t know who Tricianne Taylor was, and that he did not remember getting married.”

The Legally Blonde star’s mother fears that Taylor is taking advantage of John’s condition to seize his property. Betty alleges that Taylor persuaded John to change his will and is using John’s name to borrow money.

The 60-year-old wife said she fears for her husband’s and her family’s safety. Aside from her abovementioned requests, she wants Taylor banned from transferring any of John’s assets to her name.

Furthermore, Betty reportedly asked the court for Taylor to return any property she acquired during the invalid marriage.
