Two People Moderately Injured in Cooper Township Accident

COOPER TOWNSHIP – Two people were moderately injured after a two-vehicle accident at approximately 9:45 p.m. Friday along the Kylertown-Drifting Highway in Cooper Township, the Clearfield-based state police reported.

State police identified the accident victims as Stephen Paul Fye, 35, of Drifting and Andrew S. Haversack, 56, of Clearfield. Both were transported to the Altoona Regional Hospital for medical treatment. Fye wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

According to the accident report, Fye was traveling northbound; Haversack was traveling southbound. At that point, Fye lost control of his pick-up truck while attempting to negotiate a left-hand curve. His pick-up truck rotated counterclockwise, sliding into the southbound lane and into the path of pick-up truck operated by Haversack.

The pick-up trucks collided before spinning around and sliding off the western berm. Fye was ejected out the back window and into the cargo bed of his pick-up truck. Haversack had to be extricated from his pick-up truck by mechanical means. Both pick-up trucks sustained major damage.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time. State police were assisted at the accident scene by the Grassflat, Winburne and Morris Township fire departments, Moshannon Valley emergency medical services and Folmar’s Towing.
