Chris Johnson homers twice as Astros blast Mets

Houston, TX, United States (AHN Sports) – Chris Johnson blasted a pair of homers and collected six RBI, while pitcher Wandy Rodriguez allowed six hits and a run over seven innings as the Houston Astros drubbed the New York Mets 8-1 Wednesday afternoon.

The ‘Stros, who scored three runs in the second and tacked on a pair more in the third inning, outhit the Mets 15-7 and improved their season slate to 11-14.

Mets leadoff hitter Ruben Tejada ripped three hits and David Wright added a triple, but New York couldn’t string together much more offense.

Mets starter Chris Schwinden was belted around for six hits and five runs over just four innings, falling to 0-1.

Rodriguez improved to 3-2 and reduced his ERA to a remarkable 1.64.

The Mets slipped to 13-12 on the campaign.
