CLEARFIELD – Recently, a $1,000 anonymous donation to the Area Agency on Aging Active Living Endowment Fund in honor of John and Susan Kordish’s upcoming retirement from the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (CCAAA) was received. The Active Living Endowment Fund, established in 2007, is maintained by the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation and was created to endow and provide support for new or changing program initiatives, with special emphasis on the growing “Boomer” population in Clearfield County.  Gifts to this fund live on into the future in the name of the donor.  The principal is not touched. As the fund grows, only the annual earnings are utilized, ensuring that the fund will live on for perpetuity.

Charitable donations are important to organizations such as the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (CCAAA), enabling them to go farther and serve more than otherwise would have been possible.  The CCAAA and its fundraising arm, Mature Resources Foundation, are both classified by the IRS as charitable entities and gifts are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.  Donations can be in a variety of forms and can be given in several different ways.  Monetary gifts, stocks and other securities, and even property can all be effective tax-deductible donations.  Likewise, donations can be designated as memorial, gifts in honor of a special person, or in honor of a special occasion, such as the anonymous donor made in the case of Mr. and Mrs. Kordish’s retirement.

The Clearfield County Charitable Foundation is one of more than 300 community foundations in the United States, and its purpose is to enhance the quality of life in Clearfield County through the support of services that promote health, education, social welfare, public and urban affairs, arts and culture, conservation, and the environment. The Foundation, established in 2004, accomplishes this by stimulating the establishment of endowments to serve local communities now and in the future, and by awarding grants to local charitable organizations.

The Clearfield County Charitable Foundation welcomes inquiries from potential donors or those interested in establishing funds to benefit local communities and organizations. Additional information regarding the Foundation is available by calling (814)765-7682. Likewise, donors who wish to support the services of the CCAAA through these tax-reducing options can contact the Area Agency on Aging at 814-765-2696.
