Tokyo, Japan (AHN) – Dior recently unveiled its renovated Tokyo Ginza flagship store, using the occasion to also open the doors to its traveling “Lady Dior As Seen By” exhibition, which will run in Tokyo through May 20.
The launch was a star-studded event replete with celebrity models and actress.
The exhibition highlights artists such as Nan Goldin, Arnaud Pyvka, Bruce Weber, Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh and Koichiro Doi.
The lower floor of the exhibition space features a series of films in which the iconic Dior handbag shares the spotlight with Oscar-winning French actress Marion Cotillard in front of the cameras of David Lynch, Olivier Dahan, John Cameron Mitchell and Annie Leibovitz.
Another room highlights the history of the bag and the design house, with archival images shown on a big screen.
Dior President and CEO Sidney Toledano was present, just off a successful couture show in Shanghai.
He noted that he has been “picking up encouraging signs from the Japanese market,” and added that the House of Dior performed well in the country in the first quarter of 2012.
After the shows conclude in Tokyo, the Lady Dior as Seen By exhibit embarks on a global tour.
