Milwaukee, WI, United States (AHN Sports) – Left fielder J.D. Martinez drove in three-runs and Chris Snyder came through with a clutch hit in the seventh as the Houston Astros defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-5 Wednesday at Miller Park.
Locked at 4-4 after six innings, Snyder delivered an RBI single to give the ‘Stros a one-run advantage going into the final inning. Martinez then connected for a two-run single in the eighth while closer Brett Myers kept the Brewers sluggers in check.
The visiting team raced to a 4-2 lead after two innings but the Brewers rallied back following hits from first baseman Travis Ishikawa and left fielder Ryan Braun in the second and third inning, respectively.
The Astros (7-12) avoided a sweep against the Brewers, who dropped them in the first two outings of the three-game series at Miller Park.
Braun, reigning National League MVP, recorded two hits and two RBI but his effort didn’t prevent the Brewers (9-10) from dropping below .500 in an inconsistent early campaign.
