London, England, United Kingdom (AHN Sports) – Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri nailed a goal each as Manchester City blanked Wolverhampton Wanderers, 2-0, Sunday to stay within striking distance behind leader Manchester United for the English Premier League crown.

Manchester City (26-5-5, 80 pts) moved three points behind pace-setter Manchester United (26-5-4, 83 pts) ahead of Monday’s crucial derby match.

Aguero collected his 29th goal of the season after scoring off a beautiful cross from Gael Clichy in the 27th minute, while Samir Nasri sealed the deal in the 74th minute off another beautiful helper from Clichy.

Manchester City, who possessed a superior goal difference over United, needed to win their last three assignments to secure them the EPL championship. The Wanderers are in danger of facing relegation with a 5-8-22 (23 pts) record.

Manchester United played to a 4-4 draw with Everton (13-9-12, 48 pts) early in the day, allowing their intra-city rival to close the gap.

Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, and Nani gave United a commanding 4-2 edge with 22 minutes left. Nikica Jelavic scored his second goal in the 83rd minute and Steven Pienaar slotted the equalizer in the 85th minute to put the Red Devils EPL title campaign in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, Peter Odemwingie scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute as West Bromwich Albion stunned Liverpool, 1-0, Sunday at Anfield.
