Braves belt three homers, crush Mets in afternoon tilt

Atlanta, GA, United States (AHN Sports) – Juan Francisco, Dan Uggla and Freddie Freeman all smacked home runs, leading the Atlanta Braves to a 14-6 rout of the New York Mets Wednesday afternoon at Turner Field.
The Braves lashed out 16 hits, with Michael Bourn collecting three base-knocks and Freeman driving in three runs.
New York suffered a second-straight poor outing from a pitcher after Johan Santana’s poor start Tuesday.
R.A. Dickey took his turn getting belted around, allowing 8 hits and 8 runs over 4.1 innings to fall to 2-1 on the season.
The Mets ripped 14 hits, with their 1-through-4 batters collecting nine of them.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis had three of the Mets hits, while David Wright knocked in three runs though the Mets trailed 6-3 after three innings and never could get back into the game.
Cristhian Martinez picked up the win for the Braves, allowing three hits and a run over two frames.
