Kansas, MO, United States (AHN Sports) – After a rough start into the season, the Indians are starting to build momentum as they swept their three-game series with the Royals with a 13-7 win Sunday.
Trailing by three runs after two innings, the Tribe began to find their mark in the third inning as Shin-Soo Cho, Jake Hannahan, and Shelley Duncan drove in runs to ignite six-run onslaught.
Duncan, Jason Kipnis, Casey Kotchman and Travis Hafner all went yard for the Tribe.
Tribe sluggers continued to abuse the Royals’ pitchers in the succeeding innings, scoring seven more runs in the process.
After a listless season debut against Toronto Blue Jays on April 7, Ubaldo Jimenez surrendered nine hits, four runs with five strikeouts over five innings but it was enough to nail his first win of the season.
Starter Luis Mendoza allowed 9 hits and 9 runs over four innings while Jose Mijares and Luis Coleman surrendered four more runs in a nightmarish outing for the Royals pitchers.
