DeRozan, Raptors keep Hawks from clinching playoff spot
Atlanta, Ga, United States (AHN Sports) – DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 102-86 victory over the Atlanta Hawks Sunday.
The win was Toronto’s second straight over an Eastern Conference playoff contender and kept the Hawks from clinching a spot in the postseason. The Raptors beat the Boston Celtics 84-79 on Friday night.
Alan Anderson added 16 points and James Johnson scored all 15 of his points in the fourth quarter for Toronto.
Josh Smith scored 26 points for the Hawks, who fell into a fifth-place tie with Orlando in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Magic defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-84 earlier Sunday.
Toronto took a 53-39 lead at the half after limiting Atlanta to 16 second-quarter points.
The Hawks cut the deficit to five in the first four minutes of the third quarter but DeRozan scored six straight points to swing the momentum back to the Raptors, who led 73-64 heading into the fourth.
