Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – Axl Rose, of the heavy rock band Guns N’ Roses, is declining induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

While most artists vie for a coveted spot in the star-studded Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Rose doesn’t see the invitation as quite so rosy.

Rose wrote in a letter to the Hall of Fame, “I won’t be attending The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction 2012 Ceremony and I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N’Roses to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf.”

Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Small Faces/Face, Laura Nyro and Donovan will all be honored at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony set for Saturday in Cleveland.

Rose and his former band Guns N’ Roses had a falling out years ago and apparently Rose still wants no association with the members. He said in the letter, “For the record, I would not begrudge anyone from Guns their accomplishments or recognition for such. Neither I or anyone in my camp has made any request or demands of the Hall of Fame. It’s their show not mine.”

The Rock Hall replied, “We are sorry Axl will not be able to accept his induction in person.”

The only other group that has declined to be inducted are the punk rockers known as the Sex Pistols.
